Hello there,
For my very first blog post, I thought I would share some information about me and explain my blog a bit more.
Here's a couple of random facts about me: I am a 21 year old Texan, born and raised. I currently live with my mom, dad, and younger sister, who is 18. My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over 6 years. My grandpa was an educator, coach, and superintendent, so you could say education runs in the family.
However, up until my senior year in high school, I was not sure what I wanted to do with my life. When I was young, I dreamt of being an artist and working for Disney. During high school, my dream of becoming an artist turned into becoming a photographer. But I did not feel a strong enough passion for either of these.
My senior year of high school I took a child development class, you know, the one where you take care of a pretend baby for a couple days. During this class, we also got to visit an elementary school to observe and participate in a classroom. I was placed in two different classrooms, a first and second grade class.
I enjoyed both of these classrooms, from the children to the experiences that I had with them. I remember sitting with them to help with their work, answering questions, and getting to know each of them. I fell in love with being in these classrooms, watching and helping children learn. It was during this class that I full-heartedly decided that I wanted to be an elementary teacher.
I am now finishing my third year in college pursuing a bachelors in elementary education. When I graduate, I will be certified to teach early childhood-6th grade. Throughout my three years in college, I have observed in eight elementary classrooms (Preschool-3rd grade). I feel that I have learned so much valuable information that I will be taking with me into my student teaching experience this fall.
This blog was mainly created to share my student teaching journey. However, I will also share other experiences such as, my college classes ( interesting projects, studying tips and tricks, and useful content learned in my classes), my elementary classroom observations , and other things going on in my life at the time (babysitting, substitute teaching, etc.).
You may be thinking that I sound like I know what I'm talking about, but I am still learning. I know I still have a lot to learn, and I hope that you will be along for this journey. With this blog, I hope to connect with other educators, to inspire and learn with you...because we're all in this together.
I hope you enjoyed reading my first blog post, and I hope you become a frequent reader!
Look for my next blog post this Wednesday, June 22nd! Also, feel free to leave a comment on whether you liked this blog, if you would return to read more, and/or how I could improve my blog. I would greatly appreciate it!
Inspirationally,
Ally
